Love In Ludington//The Story of Kubi & D'Arcy
I have been really lucky in my career to meet some amazing people, and a few of my clients started out as friends who appreciated my work and have been following me throughout the years... do you see the trend? And when your friends want to hire you...that just makes me happy! That being said I love the people that I come in contact with in my life.
Here is the story behind how I got to know Kubiak.
Kubi (as we like to call him) has been friends with my husband for years, they played on the same soccer league. He ended up coming to one of my exhibits a couple years back and purchased a piece from me. Don't you already love him!?
Fast forward a couple years and I received an email from him that he would be proposing to his girlfriend and wanted me there to capture it. We devised a plan of a "farewell to D.C. photoshoot" since he would be taking a job in Taiwan and D'Arcy would be going with him. It was the height of Cherry blossom season in D.C. and we met at the monuments with our plan in action at Sunrise. FYI nobody has ever convinced me to get up that early unless it was to fly off to an exotic location. Clearly he's pretty special in my book, and possibly one of the kindest people you would ever meet.
And the story continues...I was so excited when they asked me to photograph their wedding in Ludington, Michigan this September. They included myself and my husband in everything from the family get togethers and the rehearsal dinner. I got to know their fantastic family and friends and made a few new friends myself. Check out their wedding video and you too will see that their love is contagious. Love and good energy flow from these two. I wish the both of you a lifetime of happiness & adventures. xo
allie & chase tie the knot!!
I have known Allie for close to ten years, we met at my friend Frantz Sebastian's salon. I would do there windows and floral displays (yes, I do that too, more on that later.) and she was the receptionist. She had told me since the beginning that she would want me to photograph her wedding, ten years later I did and it was beautiful to capture the love of someone who has been loyal to my work for so long. Not to mention how laid back she is, she actually hopped in my car for a ride to the ceremony!! How cool is that!!
Allie and Chase decided to have a lovely farm wedding at Mathwig Barn in Thurmont, Maryland. The skies were clear and the weather was crisp and still warm for Fall. Take a look and don't forget to check out the video. xo Dominique
Special thanks to my second shooter Sebastian Marin, who photographed the guys getting ready and ceremony! Check out his work here http://www.sebastianmarin.photo
love in the fields
With an engagement and a baby on the way, I had lovebirds Kathryn & Steven run around on what might be the hottest day of the year (it was around 100 degrees, yikes!) did they complain-- nope! They are going to make fantastic parents and I can't wait to meet the little one! Here is a short video of our shoot. xo
construction sites, forest, and cinder blocks...yes please!
I love a good renegade photo shoot! Check out our Photo Therapy session with Courtney, she's a mother to two young boys that are adorable. Courtney, wanted to celebrate looking fantastic and can you blame her? xo
So do you love it? Want a shoot? I would love to hear what you think and what you would like to do for your own shoot.
family therapy....yes please!
Aside from Photo Therapy, I also do couples therapy and family therapy. Yes, yes- I know... A whole lot of therapy is going on. But everyone could use a little therapy, right?
Here is a preview of my Family Therapy session with Kathleen and James, they are one of my favorite clients and you will see why after you watch this video. xo
FYI Michael Jackson was playing during our shoot.
sexy sunday sessions
Sometimes my Photo Therapy sessions are on the sexier side and I love it!!
Morgan + Jaquie a New York Wedding.
I met Jaqueline and Morgan a few years before I shot their wedding They bought a piece of my art work and we fell in love with each other... Yes- that's how it should work with your wedding photographer. They said ''when we get married, we want you to shoot our wedding'' of course I said YES!! Flash forward a couple years and here I was in NYC shooting their New York wedding. They wanted their love of NY to be present in the images so we did a tour with all their favorite spots. They had an intimate wedding that took place in Grand Central St ation Campbell Apartment. Take a look at our day....xo
in the blue room sessions
So, I was lucky enough to get these lovely ladies in front of my lens and I donated a portion to the non-profit PROJECT SOAR. Look good. Do good. What's not to love? Did I forget to mention that all the woman just happened to be gorgeous! Here are a few images from my sessions with them.
Thank you to my good friend who also just happens to be one of the best hair stylist and make-up artist in the D.C. area, Abigail De Casanova. And the fantastic boutique Ella-Rue in Georgetown for providing some of the clothes. xoxo
